Brookings
Institution
The Brookings Institution, one of Washington's oldest think tanks,
is an independent, non-partisan organization devoted to research, analysis,
and public education with an emphasis on economics, foreign policy,
governance, and metropolitan policy.

Last year, The Brookings Institution launched a weekly discussion series
on news media issues growing out of the current anti-terrorism campaign.
It was also a forum to consider other media matters that relate to

Journalism Centre
The European Journalism Centre (EJC) is an independent, international,
non-profit institute dedicated to the highest standards in journalism,

FAIR
FAIR, an US media watch group, has been offering well-documented criticism
of media bias and censorship since 1986. It works to invigorate
the First Amendment by advocating for greater diversity in the
press and by scrutinizing media practices that marginalize public

Matters for America
Media Matters for America is a Web-based, not-for-profit, progressive
research and information centre dedicated to comprehensively monitoring,
analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.
Launched in May 2004, Media Matters for America put in place the means
to systematically monitor a cross section of print, broadcast, cable,
radio, and Internet media outlets for conservative misinformation --
news or commentary that is not accurate, reliable, or credible and
that forwards the conservative agenda -- every day, in real time.

MEMRI
- The Middle East Media Research Institute
The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) explores the Middle
East through the region's media. MEMRI bridges the language gap which
exists between the West and the Middle East, providing timely translations
of Arabic, Farsi, and Hebrew media, as well as original analysis of
political, ideological, intellectual, social, cultural, and religious
trends in the Middle East. Founded in February 1998 to inform the debate
over U.S. policy in the Middle East, MEMRI is an independent, non-partisan,
non-profit, 501 (c)3 organization. MEMRI's headquarters is located
in Washington, DC with branch offices in Berlin, London, and Jerusalem.

MERIP
- Middle East Research and Information Project
MERIP is a non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Washington,
DC. A completely independent organization. Established 32 years ago,
the original conception of MERIP was to provide information and analysis
on the Middle East that would be picked up by the existing media. Since
1996, MERIP has maintained one of the most informative websites on
Middle East politics, culture and society.

PEJ
The Project for Excellence in Journalism is an initiative by journalists
to clarify and raise the standards of American journalism. PEJ
pursues the aim of clarifying standards by bringing journalists
together to decide for themselves what their purpose and aims are.
Amidst its resources there are books, articles and research papers
about all the tools of journalism (for example: war, coverage of
the war on terror, embedded journalists).

Institute for the Media
A think tank which analyses media and communications development in
the Europe of the digital age and advises policy makers, governments
and other social groups on the improvement of freedom of media in all
parts of Europe, on the constituents of the future "civil digital
